2011 Toyota Sienna Pricing Announced

Posted by: Carnews | Comments (0)

Toyota today announced manufacturers suggested retail prices (MSRP) for the all-new 2011 Sienna minivan.

Third-Generation 2011 Sienna

The base MSRP for the new Sienna will range from $24,260 for the Sienna grade with a four-cylinder engine to $39,770 for the Sienna Limited all-wheel-drive (AWD) V6. Both the Sienna grade ($24,260) and popular LE ($25,345) base MSRP’s are lower than the current generation models, reflecting an excellent value. The prices will take effect when production begins in January.

The all-new 2011 Sienna will go on sale in February with the arrival of V6-powered Sienna grade, LE, XLE and Limited models. Four-cylinder Sienna grade and LE models, and the SE grade will arrive at dealerships in April.

With state-of-the-art features and rewarding driving dynamics, the all-new 2011 Sienna sets a new standard for minivans in design, performance and value. Value also reaches new heights as standard equipment levels have been improved across all grades.

The new Sienna is configured for seven- or eight-passenger seating and comes in five conveniently configured grades, all sharing a distinctly new contemporary style. The models include: Sienna grade, LE, XLE, Limited and the all-new sporty SE. The segment’s only AWD model is available on V6-powered LE, XLE and Limited grades.

Styling of the new Sienna was accomplished by Toyota’s Calty Design Research facility in Newport Beach, Calif., developed at Toyota Technical Center in Ann Arbor, Mich., and assembled at Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Princeton, Ind.

A choice of two responsive DOHC engines will be available: a 3.5-liter V6 or 2.7- liter four-cylinder engine. Both engines offer the latest in efficient, lightweight technology, including Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i).

The 3.5-liter V6 generates 266 horsepower at 6,200 rpm, with expected EPA-estimated mileage ratings of 18 mpg city/24 mpg highway (16 mpg city/22 mpg highway on AWD models). It also has a 3,500-pound towing capacity with the optional tow package (standard on XLE and Limited models). A four-cylinder engine will be offered for the first time in the Sienna. With 187 horsepower at 5,800 rpm, the 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine produces responsive power that exceeds some competitors V6 performance, while delivering expected EPA-estimated fuel efficiency ratings of 19 mpg city and 26 mpg on the highway, the highest of any seven- or eight-passenger minivan.

Both engines are matched with Sienna’s first state-of-the-art, electronically controlled six-speed transmission with sequential shift that provides smooth gear-shift feeling, quiet performance and a lightweight, compact size.

Sienna’s value has been enhanced with the addition of new standard features on all grades. Standard safety features not previously available on Sienna include: seven airbags including the first driver knee airbag in the segment, Daytime Running Lights with manual on/off feature and active headrests. Standard comfort and convenience features new to Sienna include: power windows with auto up/down and jam protection in all positions, 60/40 split and stow third-row seat with one motion stow, removable second row seats with tip-up and long-slide feature, cruise control, windshield de-icer, tri-zone air conditioning with air filter and rear control panel, and an integrated color-keyed rear spoiler. Standard performance features new to Sienna include: a six speed transmission with a sequential shift, larger 17-inch alloy wheels and tires, ECO driving indicator, electric power steering and enhanced VSC.

The Sienna LE V6 features additional standard equipment previously only available on the XLE. That equipment includes a multi-information display with a backup camera, side and quarter-window sun shades, dual power sliding side doors, Bluetooth® with iPod® audio, power driver’s seat with power lumbar, new easy clean fabric, and center console.

The XLE offers substantially more standard content at its value-driven MSRP of $32,175, even when compared to the LE. The XLE builds on the LE, adding standard features such as second-row Lounge Seating (AWD only), 18-inch alloy wheels, power moonroof, heated driver and passenger seats with adjustable temperature control, textured leather-trimmed eight-way power driver’s captains chair and four-way front passenger captain’s chair, towing package, power swing-out rear quarter glass, power rear door, fog lights, wood-grain-style trim, tri-zone automatic climate control system with air filter and rear control panel, optitron meters, and an anti-theft system with engine immobilizer.

The Limited grade has a starting price of $38,500 for the front-wheel drive V6. Additional standard equipment on the luxury-driven Limited includes second-row Lounge Seating, two-tone leather-trimmed seating with an eight-way power driver’s seat with memory function and four-way power passenger seat, dual-sliding moonroof with front and rear controls, Smart Key system on all doors with push-button start and remote illuminated entry, 18-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels, sliding center console, JBL audio, power 60/40 Split & Stow third-row seat, Safety Connect™ (includes a complimentary one-year trial subscription), and front- and rear-parking sonar.

Every Sienna will ride well and track cleanly through corners, but none more so than the newest addition to the lineup: the sporty SE.

The SE is for those who appreciate an even sportier design with responsive performance. The front has a more aggressive appearance. The side skirting visually lowers the vehicle and smoked headlights and taillights make a distinctive statement. Aerodynamic sculpting hugs the standard 19-inch alloy wheels. The SE sits lower, on a sport-tuned suspension and steering system for quicker feedback and better handling, and it comes with exclusive instrumentation and unique interior colors and trim. The SE also comes with exclusive instrumentation and unique colors and trim, and will be efficiently priced at $30,550.

The 2011 Sienna offers features never before offered on any Toyota including an available panorama camera with dual views (normal and 180-degree wide-angle views) and integrated back-up guides, available dual-view, dual-input entertainment center, Lounge Seating, and a dual moonroof.

2010 Toyota Hilux Official Revealed

Posted by: Carnews | Comments (0)

The Toyota Hilux, Europe’s most popular pick-up, has undergone significant revisions for 2010 with improved performance specifications making in-demand models more readily available for customers.

Its legendary toughness remains and it now has a healthy 20 per cent increase in power and extra torque from the 2.5 D-4D engine delivering a welcome rise in performance.

Improved engine performance

Toyota has revised the 2.5 D-4D engine, the core power unit in the Hilux range, to produce significantly more power and extra torque. Maximum output has been increased from 118 to 142bhp, a rise of 20 per cent. Maximum torque is up by 18Nm to a maximum 343Nm at 2,000rpm.

These improvements have been achieved by the introduction of a new high-output turbocharger and new fuel injectors that are more precise, improving throttle response and performance. To cope with the extra power, the pistons have been upgraded to a new high-strength material.

As well as giving more flexible driving performance, the changes have cut Hilux’s nought to 62mph acceleration time by 2.5 seconds to 12.5 seconds. Emissions performance is unchanged, however, at 219g/km – one of the lowest figures in the segment.

The 2.5 D-4D engine is matched to a five-speed manual transmission and is available in all three Hilux body styles: Single Cab, Extra Cab and Double Cab.

Improved payloads

Increases in Hilux’s gross vehicle weights have yielded improvements in payload performance, notably for Double Cab models where capacity has increased by 35kg on the HL2 Double Cab and 25kg on the HL3 Double Cab.

Revised model range and equipment specifications

The Hilux range has been revised with the high-power 3.0 D-4D engine now available exclusively in the Invincible Double Cab.

Leather upholstery and satellite navigation with Bluetooth are now options on the Invincible, making the flagship model a stronger price prospect for more customers.

Two smart grey upholstery cloths have been introduced, and a new two-tone leather option in anthracite and slate grey with contrasting light grey stitching is available for the Invincible.

Satellite navigation with Bluetooth is offered as an option on the HL3 Double Cab. A Sport Deck and an Urban Pack (front guard, scuff plates and front and rear parking sensors) are available for both the HL3 and Invincible Double Cabs.

2010 Toyota Land Cruiser Pricing Announced UK

Posted by: Carnews | Comments (0)

The Toyota Land Cruiser has built a formidable reputation around the world for its ability to take even the most extreme conditions in its stride. From arid deserts to polar wastes, Land Cruiser has demonstrated its unrivalled toughness and durability in a heritage that spans six decades.

This background of achievement makes the launch of an all-new Land Cruiser a particularly significant event and Toyota has wasted no effort to ensure its new model builds on the pedigree of its ancestors. It is equipped with a raft of new and advanced handling and driver assistance systems that take its off-road capabilities to new heights. At the same time, it has been engineered for greater poise, comfort and performance when driving on-road.

In the UK new Land Cruiser is offered as a five-door model powered by a revised 171bhp 3.0-litre D-4D engine, matched to a five-speed automatic transmission. Three equipment grades are offered – LC3, LC4 and LC5 – with seven seats fitted as standard on all but the entry level version (on which third row seats are an option). Customer orders are being taken now with first deliveries from early December. On-the-road prices range from £29,795 to £44,795.

Design and Construction

The new Land Cruiser is only slightly larger than its predecessor, which helps maintain its off-road agility. The styling combines the model’s traditionally robust looks with styling cues that were first introduced on the larger Land Cruiser V8.

Intelligent interior packaging provides more space inside the cabin, with Toyota EasyFlat third row seats that can be raised of folded flat at the touch of a button (LC4 and LC5 models). The usable loadspace has been significantly increased and a new rear glass hatch allows items to be loaded without having to open the full side-hinged tailgate – ideal for tight parking places.

Toyota has retained the body-on-frame construction that has always been an integral part of Land Cruiser’s exceptional off-road ability. Careful attention to the suspension design and NVH measures ensure high standards of on-road ride, handling and comfort are maintained.

Technology for on and off-road performance

New Land Cruiser introduces a series of advanced but user friendly features that help the driver tackle even the most challenging routes. These include: –

Electrically modulated Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS), which minimises body roll and gives positive steering on-road, and increases wheel articulation off-road.
Full-time All-wheel drive with Torsen limited slip differential.
Multi-Terrain Select (MTS), with four driver-selectable modes to tailor vehicle settings for different off-road conditions.
Multi-Terrain Monitor, a world-first system of front and side view cameras that give the driver a real-time view of areas immediately around the vehicle that can’t be seen from the wheel.
Crawl Control, which controls the engine and brakes to maintain a slow, safe speed when driving off-road or wading, so the driver only needs to concentrate on steering. This operates in both forward and reverse gears.
Active Traction Control (A-TRC), Multi-Terrain ABS and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) are fitted as standard on all models.

Equipment highlights

There is nothing spartan about life on board the new Land Cruiser. 17-inch alloys, roof rails, fog lamps, climate control, cruise control, Bluetooth and Smart Entry and Start system are all part of the LC3 specification.

LC4 models add triple-zone climate control, 18-inch wheels, powered folding third row seats, leather upholstery, electrically adjustable heated front seats, dusk-sensing headlights, auto-dimming rear-view mirrors, rear parking monitor, 17-speaker JBL premium audio package and a hard disc drive (HDD) navigation system with a 10GB sound library.

At the top of the range the LC5 models come with Adaptive Variable Suspension with Active height Control, sunroof, Crawl Control, Multi-terrain Monitor, Steering Angle Display, Multi-terrain Select and a rear seat entertainment system for DVD playback and gaming.

2010 Toyota Venza Billabong Ultimate Concept breaks cover

Posted by: Carnews | Comments (0)

The Toyota/Billabong Ultimate Venza makes its debut at the 2009 SEMA Show. Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. teamed with Billabong and Street Image to create the perfect active sports vehicle that you could take to the beach, lake, mountains, skate park or anywhere in between and have a blast. The Ultimate Venza will be used to support top extreme athletes at future competitions.

Modifying a Venza to meet the needs of extreme athletes was a natural fit. Its vast interior space, versatility, utility and comfort make it a perfect vehicle for people with active lifestyles.

Street Image built the Ultimate Venza by taking a 2009 Toyota Venza as the starting point. The exterior modification of the Ultimate Venza includes an aggressive custom body kit that includes a unique Toyota/Billabong exterior paint design, fender flares and alloy wheels. A custom roof rack was designed and installed to accommodate surf, snow and wake boards. The roof rack lowers to make it easier to load surf boards and also features a hidden cargo rack that extends from the rear bumper for skis and snow boards.

Street Image also installed a front and rear hitch receiver and Grinch Winch to pull wake boarders into waves or snow boarders and skaters across flat land to a jump or rail. Finally, large Enkei wheels with Nitto tires and a Toyota Racing Development (TRD) big brake kit were added to provide superior traction and stopping power when driving off the beaten path or to the beach.

The interior of the Ultimate Venza utilizes genuine Billabong materials and construction. The seats are custom upholstered with wet suit materials and incorporate Billabong’s latest design scheme and colors. The headliner is an artistic color collage depicting Billabong athletes in action.

Additional Ultimate Venza interior modifications include “living” features that will allow the athletes to conduct many everyday endeavors while on the go or at competition sites. Among the “living” features located in the rear cargo area is a custom heated shower system with a 10 gallon capacity for rinsing off after surfing.

A Verizon Wireless access point router was installed, allowing the athletes to receive up-to-date surf or snow reports and other important information. The Ultimate Venza was installed with the latest audio and video equipment from Fujitsu Ten’s legendary Eclipse brand. The system features a multi-media DVD head unit, iPod interface, head rest-mounted LCD monitors, 18 speakers and 2,200 watts of power. Rear hatch-mounted speakers allow for enhanced sound quality when relaxing during a post-competition tailgate gathering.

The Toyota/Billabong Ultimate Venza Concept will be the official Billabong Team vehicle for use by surf, snow, skate and wake athletes. It will also be used in the Billabong Adventure Division to tow personal watercraft during wave excursions and will be the official Billabong tow vehicle for their wake team. The one-of-a-kind Venza will also be displayed at Billabong surf contests and camps from coast to coast.

2010 Toyota Landcruiser Prado Three Door breaks cover

Posted by: Carnews | Comments (0)

Toyota’s next-generation LandCruiser Prado is out to prove that “less is more” with the introduction of sporty three-door versions for the first time in Australia.

Aimed at a younger buyer seeking recreational off-road fun, three-door Prado will be sold alongside five-door models from the November introduction of the new Prado 150 range.

The three-door model has the same distinctively LandCruiser-like Prado face of the five-door, featuring a three-dimensional vertical grille.

Its roof and rear-quarter sheet metal are unique, though the back door – which bears the spare tire – is shared with the five-door version.

A higher break-over angle, courtesy of the shorter wheelbase, provides three-door Prado with the ability to travel over steeper peaks than five-door.

Lower weight for the three-door versions is expected to translate into even better real-world acceleration – as well as a small improvement in fuel economy and emissions*.

Another key benefit of the three-door is its strong towing capacity of three tonnes (braked)^ – 500kg more than the already-impressive five-door.

Toyota Australia’s senior executive director sales and marketing David Buttner said three-door Prado was a valuable addition to the local range.

“Prado three-door will be the ideal vehicle for couples who want a vehicle for its sporty styling, as well as Prado’s legendary towing and off-road abilities,” Mr Buttner said.

“Even more than new five-door Prado, the three-door will definitely attract buyers who previously have not considered a sports utility vehicle,” he said.

“Specification levels will be high across three- and five-door ranges, with several flow-down technologies from Lexus and from LandCruiser 200 Series.

“New electronic features will take Prado’s off-road ability to new levels for Toyota, catering even for those new to off-road motoring.

“Handling, stability and ride comfort have been raised to new heights.”

All next-generation Prados in Australia will have seven airbags, vehicle stability control, traction control and anti-lock brakes.

Alloy wheels and Toyota’s Smart Entry & Start, which provides keyless entry and ignition, are also standard.

Prado first arrived in Australia in 1996 and quickly secured a firm foothold in the mid-size SUV market.

To the end of September this year, Australians have bought almost 149,000 Prados.

The 150,000 milestone is expected to be reached in the first month of next-generation sales.

It was Australia’s best-selling SUV overall in 2008.

The medium SUV segment has grown markedly in recent years with sales more than doubling from just 33,468 in 2002 to a record of 75,485 last year.

This year, the segment has basically moved with the overall industry average.
