2008 Steinmetz Opel Corsa OPC

The front spoiler in its 2-piece form, and the wheel and tyre combinations up to 19″, are simply made for a high fun factor. And the “little one” delivers fun on every journey, especially with the modified exhaust which not only offers an extra 10 HP but also provides a deeper note. The overall package is completed by a 15 mm lowering, leaving the driver with lingering impressions to make him smile long after, when remembering the drive.

Engine/Silencer: The already powerful engine, developing 141kW/192HP as standard, has been coaxed by the Steinmetz engineers into giving a further 7kW/10HP thanks to the use of the new left/right silencer system. This exhaust is also available for the central silencer arrangement. So the “little” Corsa OPC by Steinmetz, with its hefty 202 HP, is ready for the sprint.

Suspension: The Steinmetz lowering kit brings the Corsa OPC by Steinmetz 30 mm nearer to the tarmac. “A few“ millimetres which reduce the vehicle’s roll tendency and lower the centre of gravity. These two elements together give the Corsa OPC by Steinmetz even better road-holding in the limit zone, while retaining the expected level of comfort for everyday use.

Aerodynamics/Interior: Crouching down and apparently smiling from the headlamps, the power of the front is emphasised by Steinmetz front grille Type II in honeycomb design with its vertical double strut and 2-piece front spoiler. Flowing transitions provide a pleasing uniformity. The front and rear sections are linked by the new Steinmetz designer stripes in silver or anthracite, and the aluminium filler cap sets a further accent. The interior is enhanced by the Steinmetz foot mats with stainless steel.

Wheel/tyre combination: Wheel and tyre combinations from 16″ to 19″ are available for the Corsa OPC by Steinmetz. The ST3 can be fitted in size 8.0J x 19“ and the ST4 in 8.0J x 18“. The ST4 is a bicolor wheel which fascinates observers thanks to its black/silver appearance, where its brilliance is the result of the polished finish. The resulting light interplay gives the desired effect which makes the wheel a true eyecatcher. All components together combine to create an everyday “race car” in which every kilometre driven is a kilometre more fun.

Opel Insignia: A New Design Language For A New Era

-Sculpted design with a flowing coupé silhouette
-Four-wheel drive, active chassis and seven engines available at launch
-World premiere July 2008 at the London Motor Show

Rüsselsheim. A new name, a new car, a new ambition. With its groundbreaking design and sophisticated technology, the Insignia makes a quantum leap toward rejuvenating the brand and providing the perfect opportunity to discover Opel. The styling of the new 4.83 meter five-seater clearly expresses Opel’s strategy to make advanced technology and attractive design affordable.

The Insignia boasts a flowing, powerful silhouette with a coupé-like roofline. The body’s sculpted shape is accented by a distinctive radiator grille with a newly-designed Opel emblem. Unmistakable design elements include a sweeping front and rear light “wing” signature and a “blade” side contour that begins directly behind the front wheel and glides through the entire side of the body. Both details give the Insignia’s a muscular but graceful allure.

“With Insignia we are introducing an exciting new sophisticated design vocabulary, which combines sculptural artistry with German precision,” says Mark Adams, Vice President Design, GM Europe. “Our aim was to develop a confident look which compels the world to experience for themselves the superb driving dynamics the Insignia radiates.”

Echoing the exterior, the interior shapes and surfaces, which articulate this promise for exciting mobility, are crafted with high quality materials. The dashboard wraps around from the instrument panel to the door in a very sophisticated way, embracing the occupants. This wing theme will be echoed across all Opels. Red ambient lighting, which also will be featured in future Opel models, vibrate a warm, luxurious aura. A lot of emphasis too has been put into the seating, which set the highest standards in ergonomics, comfort and safety.

Opel’s pioneering role and unique expertise in lighting technology continues in the Insignia with the latest generation AFL Adaptive Forward Lighting system: Nine different light beam settings automatically adjust themselves to cater to various driving conditions, simultaneously enhancing safety and driving excitement. Another new element on the AFL system is the LED daytime running lights, which consume considerably less energy than a conventional system featuring halogen lamps, thereby lowering CO2 emissions from 6 g/km to nearly zero.

“As each feature demonstrates, the Insignia is the result of our quest to develop a car that combines striking design, excellent driving dynamics and innovative technology” says Hans H. Demant, Managing Director, Adam Opel GmbH.

The Insignia is offered from the start with front-wheel and all-wheel drive. The “Adaptive 4X4″ system’s proactive, instantaneous torque distribution not only ensures optimal traction but also enhances driving stability and dynamic handling performance. In the all-wheel drive Insignia, the FlexRide mechatronic chassis system with its Adaptive Stability Technology helps the car adjust to prevailing driving conditions and allows the driver to select settings to match his mood. FlexRide is also available in the front-wheel version.

The Insignia will launch with an exceptionally broad range of seven engines. All meet Euro 5 emissions standards and come with either manual or automatic six-speed transmissions. The four gasoline engines range from a four-cylinder 115 hp unit to a V6 with 260 hp. The three new direct-injection diesels feature a displacement of 2.0 liter and outputs spanning from 110 to 160 hp. Subsequently the Insignia engine line-up will be expanded with an EcoFLEX version offering very low CO2 emissions in addition to other, more powerful variants.

“The Opel Insignia sets new standards in technology and innovation — this will be obvious right from the launch. But we are keeping several cards up our sleeves when it comes to environmental compatibility, excitement and safety, which we will play strategically overtime” says Alain Visser, Chief Marketing Officer, GM Europe.

The Insignia notch- and hatchback will debut July 22, 2008 at the London Motor Show and hit showrooms starting in November. The Insignia was developed at GM Europe’s International Technical Development Center in Rüsselsheim, Germany, which also is home to its production. The Rüsselsheim facility is one of the most advanced car plants in the industry.

2008 Opel Meriva Concept

-FlexDoors make monocabs more versatile, comfortable and safer
-Design: New level of dynamics and improved practicality

The Opel Meriva Concept, due to be unveiled next week at the 78th International Motor Show in Geneva (March 6 – 16, 2008), illustrates how the new Opel design language can be adapted to create bold, fresh design solutions for this segment.

The Opel Meriva Concept takes flexibility to new heights with its innovative FlexDoors system, which consists of rear-hinged rear doors that swing open toward the back of the car. As the B-pillars have been purposely retained for passive security reasons, the Meriva Concept’s front and rear doors can also be opened independently of each other. Other rear-hinged rear doors already on the market can only be opened after the front door has been opened. This innovation makes access to the car interior much easier and also offers a range of safety benefits over conventional car doors. In the Meriva Concept, this innovation is combined with the highly variable FlexSpace rear seating system familiar from the production Meriva.

The FlexDoors system also enhances comfort and functionality, as the highest point of the roof – just behind the B-pillars – is exactly where the passengers enter and exit the vehicle. This architecture enabled designers to create a very dynamic and unique silhouette, with the arched roof line sloping down to the C-pillars.

Especially eye-catching is the dynamic “wave” in the window line just behind the B-pillars, which provides an excellent all-round view for rear passengers, particularly for children. The body also boasts the distinctive ”blade” bodyside form, which was a design element of the GTC Coupe and Flextreme. Another feature is the U-shaped windshield, which stretches up and back over the rear passengers’ heads – echoing the Astra GTC’s panorama windshield. The slim A-pillars and windshield pulled far down ensure plenty of light and a spacious interior atmosphere. Both elements contribute to the outstanding all-round visibility for the occupants.

2008 Opel Tigra TwinTop Illusion

Retractable steel roof with Bordeaux red canvas cover offers classic cabrio flair

The new “Illusion” model variant is another iteration of the quick-changing Tigra TwinTop: the two-seater’s electro-hydraulic retractable steel roof is covered in a Bordeaux red canvas, which gives the car the soft-top look of a classic fabric-roofed cabrio – without foregoing the benefits of a hard top. The Tigra TwinTop “Illusion” will be one of the stars on the Opel stand at the 78th International Motor Show in Geneva.

This variant also comes with many standard features, such as leather trim, heated seats, air conditioning, MP3-compatible CD-Radio, on-board computer, two-layer metallic/pearlescent-effect lacquer, aluminum sport pedals, color-coordinated safety belts and footwell mats, as well as 17-inch light alloy wheels in bi-color design. The special “Endless Summer” edition is also available for customers who would prefer the extensive standard equipment, but without the canvas roof.

Customers can choose between a 1.4 (66 kW/90 hp) or 1.8-liter (92 kW/125 hp) gasoline engine. Both come with a five-speed manual transmission, while the 1.4 TWINPORT can also be ordered with an automated Easytronic five-speed manual gearbox. As with all Tigra TwinTops, the changeover from coupe to cabrio in the “Illusion” takes place at the touch of a button and requires just around 18 seconds.

Königseder Tuned Opel GT’aime

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

Königseder makes his own motor show – not in Essen – but with his work on Opel GT. Women finally know what they want:

300 sleek-tuned PS.
The affair Königseder and Opel takes place.
With aerodynamic accents – frontspoiler and rear wing – race wins over mass and causes exactly the tension which an affair consists of. They emphasize the soft silhouette on the one hand and power the dynamic character of the car on the other hand.

A KW coilover suspension version 3 guarantees sporty driving and lap records through individual damper adjustmest – also due to the Yokohama tires.

Las Vegas: 20″ Giovanna Dalar rims remind of Elvis’ best times with rivet belts and match the car like chalk and cheese. Two American giants meet at Konigseder. Why not earlier?

The custom made Brembo brake system provides excellent deceleration and the 332mm brake discs with red 4 pistons calipers underline the exciting e! rotic style of this convertible.

The climax of the affair – naturally – takes place in the interior:
Very special: Hand made wooden car floor in black and red with GT`aime writing.

Opel Insignia
Opel Insignia

Opel’s next-generation range of mid-size cars promises a radical step forward. The new model family, which makes its world premiere at the London Motor Show in July 2008, sets technology and design standards for the Opel brand and mid-size segment. To lead off the proceedings, Opel today announced the new model’s name: Opel Insignia. The new Insignia family will be built at Opel’s home plant in Rüsselsheim, one of the most state-of-the-art automobile production facilities in the world.

“Dynamic performance is one of the Opel brand’s core values. In the new Opel Insignia, this defining characteristic is realized by sophisticated powertrain technology, active safety and the interface between driver and car. The Insignia’s level of comfort and environmental friendliness is unrivaled even among considerably more expensive competitors,” says Alain Visser, Chief Marketing Officer, General Motors Europe. With the Insignia, Opel continues pursuing its strategy of making advanced technology affordable for more customers.

When it comes to the new car’s design, Visser says, “A closer look at our groundbreaking GTC concept car gives a good idea of how exciting Opel’s new design language will be.”

The beginning of Opel’s modern mid-size heritage dates back to 1970 with the launch of the Ascona, which sold 4.4 million units over three generations. This was succeeded by the Vectra in 1988, heralding a new era of innovative models from Opel. With almost 5.5 million models sold to date, the Opel Vectra is one of the key players in the mid-size segment.

Steinmetz Tuned Opel GT

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

The abbreviation GT in cars stands for “Gran Turismo” or “Grand Touring”. In these vehicles, emotions run higher and passions rise when you take such a car on a grand tour.

The new Opel GT sets standards even as a series roadster, and in the hands of Steinmetz it becomes a Limited Edition which simply invites you to travel or just cruise.

Exhaust:
For the first time, the twin rear silencer system has been designed with a round outlet. Made fully from stainless steel and with a throaty, sonorous note, the silencer also improves gas flow and gives the rear an even more dynamic impression. A pleasure for driving with the top fitted or open.

Lowering:
Getting closer to the road and being able to take corners with more safety reserves without loss of driving comfort, that’s where the Steinmetz engineers placed their emphasis in designing the Steinmetz lowering kit. The Steinmetz GT, lowered by 20 mm, handles both the Nurburging and all situations in road traffic with equal agility.

Wheel/Tyre Combination:
New to the Steinmetz range, for the Steinmetz GT an alloy wheel is already available in 20″. Anthracite with a matt finish, the new wheel reflects the light with unsurpassed effect. The range for the GT also includes the ST3 in 18″ and 19″, and the ST4 in 18″. For tyres, we recommend Continental and Michelin.

Bodywork/Aerodynamics:
Lowered and with new wheels, the GT from Steinmetz is finished with the traditional Steinmetz front grille in honeycomb design. The two-piece front spoiler from Steinmetz with outlined air intakes next to the foglamps gives the viewer a hint of the dynamism ready on tap for any journey in the Steinmetz GT. Always a GT, for “Grand Touring”.

Steinmetz Tuned Opel Astra H Facelift

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

The Astra H from 2007 is on route with a new front. For both the Astra H 5-door and the Astra H Estate, Steinmetz Opel-Tuning has developed a new front with an even more striking appearance. The new Steinmetz parts have been developed to fit harmoniously into the overall image and are made with the usual high quality.

Engine:
Steinmetz provides more power for the new generation of 1.9 CDTI engines from Opel. For the 150 HP engine, Steinmetz raises the power to 175 HP. Naturally the conversion is available both with and without soot particle filter, and still complies with Euro 4 standards. Safe and sure: Steinmetz gives a 2 year warranty from first registration.

Exhaust:
Steinmetz’ trademark is the high gloss polished, trapezoid twin tailpipe silencer. For left or left/ right (5-door only), its unmistakeable appearance and sound leave nothing to be desired, and the quality of fit are convincing. As an option, the twin tailpipe silencer can be fitted to vehicles both with and without rear skirt.

Lowering:
The Steinmetz lowering kit of around 30 mm was developed not only for appearance but also to make a decisive contribution to safety and uncompromising driving pleasure. So it is available for both standard suspension and sports suspension with Sport Mode. The Steinmetz springs lower the Astra’s centre of gravity, reducing its tendency to roll on corners and allowing faster direction changes.

Wheel/Tyre Combination:
From 16″ to 19″, Steinmetz has the right wheel and tyre combination for all Steinmetz Astra H. The ST4 can be fitted in size 8.0J x 18″ and the ST5 in 7.5J x 17″. Both wheels are bicolor rims, with a black/silver appearance which intrigues the viewer. The brilliant finish is achieved with a polished surface. The resulting light plays have the desired effect of making both wheels into real eyecatchers.

Bodywork/Aerodynamics/Interior Trim:
THE outer sign of Steinmetz is the honeycomb front grille. For the Astra H 2007, the striking Steinmetz front grille was developed with a new design with vertical double struts. The new front spoiler with small flippers and outlined air intakes gives the front a more dynamic appearance on both the 5-door and on the Estate.

Extending the lines to the rear, the side skirts have been designed to make the Astra appear even lower. To provide rearward visibility, the electrically adjustable and heated Steinmetz sports mirrors have been adapted to the shape of the Astra.

The solid rear roof spoiler provides more downforce on the rear. Finally, on the same visual line as the side skirts and front skirt, a Steinmetz rear skirt was developed to allow the Astra driver a choice of rear silencers. For standard, left or left/right (5-door only), the rear skirt was developed so that (almost!) every wish can be met. Further bodystyling accessories are the design stripes in silver or anthracite and the aluminium filler cap cover.

In the interior, sill plates, an aluminium handbrake handle and the 4-piece foot mats with Steinmetz logo in stainless steel complete the overall impression of the Astra H. Precise fit and flowing transitions make the Steinmetz Astra into a new, totally individual vehicle. All Steinmetz components are TUV-tested and available from your official Opel dealer.
