Beginning with the solid off-road foundation of a 300-horsepower, V8-powered H3 Alpha with factory-installed front- and rear- locking differentials, the H3 Moab features a combination of production equipment, available aftermarket components and specialized modifications.

At the heart of the H3 Moab’s design is the combination of a Rancho four-inch front suspension lift and a custom rear spring-over conversion inspired by current HUMMER engineering test vehicles. The suspension modifications are supported by Rancho shocks and sure-footed performance is provided by its 35-inch BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain KM2 tires mounted on custom 17-inch 2-piece Monster Black Competition Beadlock Raceline Wheels by Allied.

The H3′s standard underbody protection has been augmented with additional custom shielding and a HUMMER Genuine Accessory brushguard and rocker protection provide the Canyon Metallic exterior paint with defense against the elements. Mounted atop the H3 is a Gobi Ranger roof basket to increase cargo carrying capacity for long overland journeys. The H3 Moab also features HUMMER Genuine Accessory lower grille mounted lamps and six Delta Xenon roof basket-mounted off-road lamps to provide lighting in all conditions.

Rounding out the exterior enhancements are a Predator Motorsports H3 winch mount system with a Warn XD9000 winch and Viking Off-Road synthetic winchline to deliver an integrated recovery solution for any situation encountered on the trail.

Functional additions to the H3 Moab continue into the vehicle’s interior with the addition of custom all-weather flooring, HUMMER Genuine Accessory all-weather floor mats and cargo area mat. To aid in trail visibility, front- and rear-facing cameras have been integrated into the vehicle bumpers and display the terrain fore and aft on the navigation radio screen. Integrated into the rear cargo area of the vehicle is a Warn Air-Power SPI, ideal for airing-up tires for the trip home after a long weekend on the trail.

Restoration for Recreation

HUMMER engineers have used the natural proving grounds surrounding Moab, UT since the introduction of HUMMER vehicles. As such, the brand and its owners have been an ongoing partner of Tread Lightly to promote responsible recreation to ensure open access for future generations. Karl Geiger, the founder of GeigerCars.de in Munich, has been importing, tuning and customizing American vehicles for more than 30 years. Thanks to a perfect network, the newest models are always available as the first in Europe on the large site in Truderinger Strasse, despite the stuttering US market.

One major enthusiasm of the Bavarian is and remains customizing, and once again Karl Geiger has achieved a masterpiece with this Hummer H2 conversion. The paintwork answers to the name “Latte Macciatto” and is a mix of a noble brown as the base color with many contrast elements in crème-beige. The combination of wheels and tires is exclusive, with 315/30R30 tires on gigantic 30-inch chrome wheels. Behind the almost full wheel rims are Brembo brakes with 380 X 34 mm riveted brake discs and 4-piston calipers at the front, and 380 X 32 mm discs with 2-piston calipers at the back. The chassis receives additional stabilizers, rear axle struts and adjustable sports shock absorbers, including lowering, which is certainly a good idea in view of the extremely high performance of the Geiger Hummer H2.

As is traditional, Geiger has fitted the Hummer motor with a supercharger, which increases the power to a full 547 PS at 5900 rpm and the maximum torque to a brutal 763 Nm at 4500 rpm. So the US giant covers the classical sprint from 0 to 100 kmh in slightly less than 7 seconds, and the forward urge is only gently held back by the air resistance at 228 kmh. In order that the outside world notices the H2 not only visually but also aurally, a special in-house stainless steel sport exhaust system gives out a real thunder.

The inside is pure luxury, because Karl Geiger lines every square centimeter with the finest leather in brown and crème beige. Dashboard, steering wheel, central console and door panels, all glisten in the same color combination as the outside paintwork, which makes the “Latte Macciatto” Hummer absolutely unique. Also remarkable is the fact that Geiger has refinished altogether 400 small parts in the interior with piano lacquer. The A, B and C columns and the underside of the roof have also been lined with finely structured Alcantara. A pioneer sound system including SatNav supplies the passengers with perfect sound and all important information, while a roof-mounted monitor in the back is ideally suited for playing DVDs.

HUMMER announced pricing today for its highly functional and capable H3T midsize pickup truck arriving in dealerships this fall in the U.S. and Canada. Pricing will start at $31,495, including a $745 destination charge.

The all-new H3T is based on the architecture of the popular H3, and features a five-passenger crew cab and a separate five-foot-long (1.5 meters) bed. The H3T is infused with the attributes expected of a HUMMER, including exceptional off-road capability and a premium interior that is as functional as it is comfortable.

For 2008, the iconic HUMMER H2 features numerous changes that deliver a more luxurious, comfortable and refined interior, while retaining HUMMER’s legendary off-road abilities and ruggedness. An all-new powertrain combines a 6.2-litre V8 petrol engine and six-speed automatic transmission to deliver much improved efficiency, while state-of-the-art safety features are now standard.

In the UK, three HUMMER H2 models are available priced from £48,995 (on-the-road) with a choice of five-door SUV, with seating for up to seven people or SUT (double-cab pick-up) body styles.

All 2008 H2 models are distinguished from previous models by larger openings in the iconic, even-slot grille and the lower grille (to accommodate the increased cooling air-flow demands of more powerful V8 engine) and the lower bumpers are painted silver, instead of black. Two new exterior metallic colors are available (Graystone and Solar Flare) expanding the customer choice to six colors, while the interior is available in Ebony or Sedona Red/Ebony with leather seat surfaces.

All-new, luxury-appointed interior

While drivers will enjoy the 2008 H2’s improved performance on the road, they’ll appreciate the experience more – thanks to the all-new interior. This features a completely redesigned dashboard, new seats – including an optional third-row seat for two passengers– new door trim panels, new controls, new rear-seat heating/air conditioning system, new rear-seat overhead DVD entertainment system and a new premium audio system.

“The new interior delivers a more refined, more precise, premium feel,” enthuses Nash. “Everything from the flushness of the controls to the feel of the materials exudes craftsmanship, while the fine details, like the leather seat piping, create a consistent, up-market design style that is echoed across the entire HUMMER family.”

The new H2 seats present a more sculptured appearance and offer improved comfort. The top anchorage of the front seat belts is now mounted on the B-pillar rather than on the seats and this change enabled engineers to adopt an uncompromising approach to achieving optimum seat comfort.

Complementing the new seats are new door trim panels and throughout the cabin soft-touch materials and new, more tactile controls enhance the feeling of craftsmanship demonstrated by a new interior. Precision design ensures that the interior panel gaps are just one millimeter and an all-new instrument panel with a six-gauge instrument cluster features a more refined appearance.

The dashboard panel also features new vents that enhance heating or cooling comfort throughout the vehicle – particularly for the second-row and third-row seat occupants. The new center stack houses the climate controls and a new premium BOSE audio and surround sound system.

Additional comfort and convenience features that are standard or optional (depending on model) include a new rear-seat overhead DVD entertainment system, a satellite navigation system, a rear-view camera system and heated windshield washer fluid. The 2008 H2 now comes with a remote starting system that enables the vehicle’s interior to be heated or cooled prior to driving.

Driving experience

The powerful heart of the 2008 H2 is an all-new, all-aluminum, small-block 6.2-litre V8 engine with performance and fuel efficiency-optimizing technologies including variable valve timing. Lighter and more powerful, the new V8 boasts a 20% power increase over the previous engine. It generates 393 ps of power at 5700 rpm and a massive 574 Nm of torque at 4300 rpm.

The new engine is mated to a new Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission with two overdrive ratios that help deliver an excellent balance of performance and fuel economy. The six gears feature a wide ratio spread with a low 1st gear (4.02:1) for brisk take-off from standstill and high 5th (0.85:1) and 6th gear (0.66:1) for quite, refined and fuel-stretching higher speed cruising.

For a more responsive driving experience, the 6L80 transmission is equipped with HUMMER’s ‘tap up/tap down’ capability that allows the driver to manually select gears sequentially (one at a time), controlling upshifts and downshifts with buttons on the steering wheel.

The new powertrain combination helps the 2008 H2 deliver an additional 1700 lb (773 kg) of towing capacity – up from 6500 lb (2954 kg) to 8200 pounds (3727 kg). A host of additional powertrain revisions also contributes to the H2’s improved performance and efficiency. These revisions including: a larger-capacity cooling system, an electric engine cooling fan which reduces ‘drag’ on engine, releasing more horsepower, a regulated voltage control that maximises fuel economy (by charging electrical components only when necessary), a new LAN electrical architecture that’s more efficient and uses less electrical energy and a 3.73:1 rear axle ratio as standard.

On-road, the H2 driving experience is quieter and more refined, thanks to new, re-tuned engine air intake and exhaust systems. On- and off-road, enhanced performance is assured by a revised steering system that has a quicker ratio and improved on-centre feel with increased self-centring.

Off-road, the H2’s 4×4 system has even greater ability in keeping with its legendary status. The transfer case is stronger, the ‘crawl’ ratio is 39.7:1 – an improvement of about 20%, the transmission’s ‘tap-up / tap-down’ system provides more control on gradients and the new electronic traction control system is standard.

Upgraded Safety as Standard

Complementing the 2008 H2 line-up’s performance and comfort improvements are significant enhancements to the vehicle’s safety systems, which include several new standard features:

Roof rail-mounted full length curtain air bags with rollover sensing system
Front seats safety belt pretensioners
Electronic stability control system with rollover mitigation technology
New traction control system
Tire pressure monitoring system

Also new is an emergency brake assist (EBA) system – the first application of this technology on a full-size GM truck or SUV. This electronic system detects when a driver is braking unusually severely and delivers maximum brake pressure to help stop the vehicle more quickly and with more control. It is a standard feature on all 2008 H2 models.

An additional feature that contributes to a safer driving experience is the new Rear Vision System – a rear view camera that monitors the area behind the vehicle to ensure safe reversing. The camera’s image is shown on a drop-down mini-screen which slides out of the rear-view mirror. The RVS system is standard on Luxury models and available as an option on the Adventure (£850).

True to the soul of HUMMER

While the 2008 H2 is offered with a new powertrain and new interior, its foundations remain the same, true to the soul of HUMMER. The H2’s fully welded ladder-type chassis frame features a modular, three-piece design incorporating a number of hydroformed components. This design delivers outstanding strength, stiffness and dimensional accuracy.

To achieve its exceptional and legendary off-road performance – including travelling through 508 mm deep streams, climbing over 406-mm steps and rocks, powering up 60% gradients, coping with 40% slide slopes and paddling through deep sand or snow – the H2 engine delivers massive (574 Nm) torque via a six-speed transmission and heavy duty 4×4 drivetrain with 39.7:1 crawler ratio and lockable rear differential.

The H2 has short overhangs for radical approach and departure angles, and exceptional ground clearance for minimal grounding on trails. Standard 17-inch wheels, heavy-duty independent front suspension and a five-link rear suspension provide superior handling, carrying and towing capability. The solid rear axle ensures durable sure-footedness, particularly in tight, off-road situations. Also standard is extensive underbody protection for the engine and transmission components.

A new, four-channel anti-lock braking and traction control system (ABS/TCS) provides optimum control on slippery surfaces. In addition, the ABS is calibrated to detect and adjust its braking capabilities to rough off-road surfaces like gravel and potholes. The new TCS allows the driver to use a two-foot driving technique (one foot on the brake, the other on the throttle pedal), to achieve the best driving style for negotiating a steep, rocky trail. The TCS also includes the ability to gain traction through a single wheel. A self-levelling rear air spring suspension system is available for extreme off-road and towing requirements.

H2 SUT – maximum utility and fun

Like the HUMMER H2, the H2 SUT can carry passengers and cargo, but does so with a twist of extra versatility – a pick-up style open cargo bed enables convenient storage of larger items. When more cargo space is required, a 2440 x 1220 mm pick-up bed can be created by powering the rear window into the Midgate, and then folding forward both the Midgate and rear seat backrest. When four occupants are on board, the bulkhead at the rear of the SUT’s passenger compartment remains upright, still providing ample cargo-carrying capacity.

Practicality aside, the H2 SUT also offers an open, invigorating driving experience. At the push of a single button, the driver can lower all four side windows and the rear window. Using a separate switch, the standard sunroof can also be opened, giving SUT a truly open-air ambience.

HUMMER has partnered with Mountain Rescue (England & Wales), to provide a specially modified vehicle for the UK charity.

UK Mountain Rescue celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2008 and to commemorate this landmark, the newly launched right-hand drive HUMMER H3 will support the charity’s busiest teams in England and Wales across the year. The hardy on/off road vehicle will carry both equipment and personnel as Mountain Rescue goes about saving hundreds of lives annually.

Hailed as the off-road vehicle – ‘like nothing else,’ the H3 is one of the most capable off-road vehicles on the market today. Recently introduced into the UK, the H3 is a smaller, more affordable and agile version of the larger H1 and H2 models. In addition to it’s iconic design, the vehicle boasts a number of advanced off-road features allowing the driver to enjoy full versatility in some of the most gruelling driving conditions nature has to offer.

The H3 is the only vehicle of it’s size that can climb a 407mm vertical wall or 60% slope, traverse a 40% side slope and operate in up to 610mm of water, making it a sure-footed choice for Mountain Rescue. To make the vehicle even more effective for Mountain Rescue, HUMMER has enhanced the vehicle with a number of specialist features including grill and roof mounted spotlights to aid visibility in treacherous conditions and rocker panel protection which gives added protection to the lower body and door panels against rock strikes and other strong blows.

Mountain Rescue (England & Wales), whose Patron is HRH Prince William of Wales, relies entirely on charitable donations to survive and is not a government funded emergency service as is commonly thought. The organisation is made up of dedicated volunteers whose selfless and courageous work provides assistance to anyone lost or injured in the UK mountains, fells or moorland. The service is provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and operates in all weather conditions.

There are currently 53 teams with 3, 500 team members covering England and Wales who undertake well over 700 rescues every year and the service is free of charge. A typical rescue may involve over 20 team members and take around 6 hours. Mountain Rescue are also called to help at major incidents such as air crashes, both civilian and military, train crashes and floods and were instrumental in assisting the victims of the recent flooding in South Yorkshire, Gloucester and Wiltshire.

For model year 2008, Hummer has made a number of interesting changes to the H3 range. The 3.7 litre five-cylinder petrol version is now supplemented with an impressive V8. In addition, new paint colours are available, the design has been updated slightly and there is a limited edition of the H3 V8 in the showroom: the Granite Edition.

Powerful and efficient

The new 5.3 litre V8 engine produces 224 kW (305 HP) at 5200 rpm and has a maximum torque of 432 Nm at 4000 rpm. Equipped in this way, the HUMMER H3 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds. The average consumption falls to 14.5 litres per 100 km (compared with 14.6 l/100 km for the H3 3.7 automatic).

To adapt the larger dimensions and high power output of the V8 engine block for the H3, changes have been made to the design and engineering: from chassis reinforcement to a new gearbox casing and special suspension for targeted support of the extra weight. The 5.7 V8 is coupled to the Hydra-Matic 4L60 electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission, which allows the H3 V8 to tow a trailer (braked) of up to 2268 kg.

European première in Geneva
The H3 V8 costs € XX.XXX.XX and is available in a very luxuriously equipped trim with leather upholstery, heated front seats with 8-way electric adjustment, sports chrome accents, high quality floor covering and audio installation, including CD player with MP3 function. The HUMMER H3 V8 will be presented to the European public for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show (6 to 16 March). The car will be available from HUMMER dealers immediately afterwards.

Granite Edition

HUMMER is bringing its unmistakable style and unmatched capability to the truck market with the 2009 H3T. It is based on the architecture of the popular H3, but features a five-passenger crew cab and a separate five-foot-long (1.5 meters) bed.

The H3T is bigger than a midsize truck and smaller than a full-size truck, creating its own niche in the market. It also is infused with the attributes expected of a HUMMER, including exceptional off-road capability and a premium interior that is as functional as it is comfortable.

“With its unique size and HUMMER traits, the H3T is ideal for the customer who works hard and plays harder,” said Martin Walsh, HUMMER general manager. “It offers the combination of truck versatility and HUMMER off-road prowess that delivers customers to the trail in style.”

In addition to its segment-defying size, the H3T also stands apart from other trucks with its signature HUMMER off-road capability. It is the only midsize truck to come standard with full-time four-wheel drive, 32-inch tires and functional skid shields. It also is the only midsize truck to offer front and rear locking differentials, as well as 33-inch tires. The V-8-powered H3T Alpha can tow up to 5,900 pounds (2,676 kg).

The H3T is offered in four trim levels, including five-cylinder models and the popular, V-8-powered H3T Alpha edition. Production is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2008 at GM’s Shreveport, La., assembly plant, with vehicles arriving at HUMMER dealerships shortly thereafter. HUMMER will sell the H3T in North America, Europe and the Middle East.

Design

Like all HUMMER models, the H3T has a purposeful design. Its consistent and iconic styling cues include a wide, aggressive stance; a low roofline and high beltline; and large, off-road tires. The wide, seven-slot grille and round headlamps mounted in square housings are signature HUMMER design elements.

“Form following function is at the core of HUMMER’s design philosophy, and the H3T’s capability reflects that mantra,” said Carl Zipfel, HUMMER director of design and former motocross professional. “It has a distinctive look that could be mistaken for nothing except a HUMMER – and it also has the functionality to get the driver to and from the trail in style.”

The crew cab body shares H3 styling and components from the B-pillar forward, while the rear section of the cab and the separate bed are unique to the H3T. The five-foot bed is similar in design and function to GM’s recently redesigned full-size trucks, including an easily removable tailgate and provisions for a bed-rail accessory system. A full-size spare tire is mounted beneath the bed.

The bed is sized to carry a wide range of popular outdoor necessities, from hauling motocross bikes to Baja, a quad to camp, or backcountry gear to the trailhead. One of the industry’s largest portfolios of accessories complements the H3T’s bed, offering different cargo management options to suit all of those lifestyle interests.

Accessories

One of the industry’s broadest portfolios of vehicle accessories has been developed for the H3T. Centered on active lifestyles, items such as removable and lockable bed-mounted storage boxes; an adjustable bike chock that can be used to help secure mountain bikes or motorcycles; and a bed extender make full use of the standard bed-rail cargo management system. A range of additional accessories that improves off-road capabilities, provides passenger entertainment and enhances exterior styling is also available. There are more than 75 HUMMER Genuine Accessories offered.

In addition to the factory-developed accessory portfolio, HUMMER has partnered with top automotive aftermarket companies to develop more than 50 Officially Licensed HUMMER Accessories – a first for the brand. A variety of exterior enhancements, such as a Slant Back Bed Cover, hard tonneau covers and a winch are offered, along with cargo management solutions such as the BedSlide and bed divider, offering countless possibilities to personalize the H3T.

Interior

The H3T’s crew cab cabin offers seating for five adults, with a 60/40-split rear bench seat that folds flat for increased cargo-carrying options. The cabin’s layout is essentially identical to the acclaimed H3 SUV, with premium materials and attention to detail that give the vehicle a functional yet refined aesthetic.

Standard amenities also include air conditioning, power locks, power windows and remote keyless entry. An AM/FM radio with CD is standard and a premium Monsoon audio system is available. XM Satellite Radio also is standard and includes three months of trial service.

HUMMER’s Rear Vision system and a navigation system are available. The Rear Vision system uses a camera mounted on the rear bumper, directly above the trailer hitch mount, to provide a view of objects directly behind the vehicle. Also, the safety and security of OnStar is standard, with Turn-By-Turn Navigation and hands-free Bluetooth connectivity available.

Powertrain

Standard in the H3T is the Vortec 3.7L I-5 with dual overhead cams and variable valve timing. This inline five-cylinder engine offers an excellent combination of power and efficiency, delivering 242 horsepower (180 kW) at 5600 rpm* and 242 lb.-ft. of torque (328 Nm) at 4600 rpm. It is backed by a five-speed manual transmission or an available four-speed, electronically controlled automatic.

The H3T Alpha’s 5.3L engine is a powerful and efficient member of GM’s legendary small-block V-8 family. It is rated at 300 horsepower (224 kW)* and 320 lb.-ft. of torque (434 Nm).* An aluminum cylinder block is used with the H3 Alpha’s engine. It helps reduce overall mass and maintains a more desirable front-to-rear weight balance.

A Hydra-Matic 4L60 electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission is paired with the 5.3L engine. Flat towing is enabled on all H3 and H3T models.

Chassis

The H3T’s frame and suspension system are based on a stretched version of the H3 SUV’s chassis and suspension – the same race-proven design found on Baja 1000-winning stock-class race trucks. The wheelbase measures 134.2 inches (3,409 mm) – 22 inches (86 mm) longer than the H3 SUV.

A ladder-type frame is the truck’s foundation and it has a modular, three-piece design that incorporates fully boxed components for outstanding strength and stiffness. An independent SLA torsion bar front suspension and multileaf Hotchkiss-type rear suspension are used. There are two suspension packages available:

-Z85 Heavy-Duty Handling and Trailering – This standard suspension delivers an excellent balance of on-highway comfort and off-road capability. It includes 32-inch all-terrain tires mounted on 16-inch, smoke-color steel wheels, specially tuned heavy-duty shocks and either a 4.56-ratio (3.7L) or 4.10-ratio (5.3L) rear axle.

-Off-Road Adventure – Designed for more aggressive off-road performance, this optional suspension package includes taller, 33-inch tires, specifically tuned shocks, locking front and rear differentials, 4.03:1 low-range gearing in the transfer case and industry-leading crawl ratios of either 68.9 with the manual transmission or 56.2 with the automatic.

To support the torque output of the 5.3L V-8, the H3T Alpha’s front differential case is made of cast iron; other models feature an aluminum case. V-8-powered vehicles also receive higher torsion bar rates to support the increased mass and specific shock valving. The chassis and suspensions were validated in real-world testing on off-road trails in Moab, Utah; the Rubicon Trail in California, and other challenging off-road venues.

Off-road capability

The H3T lives up to HUMMER’s legendary off-road reputation, with best-in-class extreme off-road capability. Highlights include:

-Ability to climb a 60-percent grade and traverse a 40-percent side slope

-Exceptional 10.2-inch (285 mm) ground clearance (with 33-inch tires)
-38.7-degree approach angle and 30.1-degree departure angle (with 33-inch tires)
-Segment-first available front- and rear-locking differentials
-Standard HUMMER Hill Hold Assist for improved hill ascension

“For most lifestyles, there’s almost nothing the H3T can’t handle,” said Walsh. “It’s a truck with HUMMER’s immutable capability.”

Complementing the features that enable the H3T’s impressive off-road prowess are a host of first-class protective elements, including four standard skid shields: a front shield, an oil-pan shield/front-axle shield, a transfer case shield and a fuel tank shield.

Safety

Continuing HUMMER’s tradition of delivering a broad range of safety systems, the H3T offers the following standard features:

-Dual frontal air bags with GM’s passenger sensing system
-Head curtain side-impact air bags
-StabiliTrak electronic vehicle stability control system
-Four-wheel ABS with traction control
-Tire pressure monitoring system
-LATCH rear child seat anchors
-OnStar with one-year Safe & Sound service

The H3T was also designed for vehicle-to-vehicle compatibility in the event of a crash, and its rigid body structure provides good passenger protection.
