2010 B&B Audi A5/S5 Cabriolet breaks cover

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

For the new Audi A5 + S5 Cabriolet the VW / Audi specialist B&B, based in Siegen / Germany has a wide tuning program finished, which allows the strongest Audi A5 Cabriolet with a 3.0TFSI engine to reach up to 415 hp and 520 Nm. For this a new developed sport exhaust system will be installed, which decrease the exhaust gas back pressure and the temperature of the exhaust gas. In association with an optimized airflow and re-balanced engine electronics with slightly increased boost pressure the achievement potential is as high as in actual sport cars – in addition the build in speed limit will be removed and the new residual speed is up to 285 km/h.

The A5 Cabriolet 3.0TDI will reach up to 325 hp and 640 Nm. The three stages of the tuning program for the A5 3.0TDI starts with an electronics change and a slightly increased boost pressure of 0.15bar, this let the engine reach 280 hp and 585 Nm for EUR 1.198,-. The second electronic optimization for EUR 1.298,- reach 300 hp and 600 Nm. Due to special unit-injector elements in addition to changes to the suction pipe, the airflow and the air cooling system this engine for EUR 3.950,- will reach 325 hp and 640 Nm.

The first stage of the four-staged tuning program for the A5 2.0TFSI starts with an electronics change and a slightly increased boost pressure to let the 2.0 ltr engine for only EUR 998,- reach 250 hp and 400 Nm. In stages of 260 and 295 hp the 2.0TFSI engine reach at stage four 310 hp and 465 Nm. This performance is reached by installing a special turbo charger and changed airflow systems in addition to a special air cooling system. To pull down the exhaust gas pressure, B&B will install a sport exhaust system with a special intermediate exhaust pipe and high performance catalyst. Finally the ignition map will be recoded.

For the Audi A5 Cabriolet with the new 2.0TDI Common-Rail engine with 170 hp/ 350 Nm are also several tuning stages possible. The first stage increase the engine performance to 200 hp and 400 Nm. The second stage let the engine reach 220 hp and 420 Nm. The prices start at EUR 1.198,-

To advance the stability at fast cornering and high highway speeds B&B install a special adjustable suspension, which is possible as comfort or sport version and which is adjustable in height by up to 40 mm. In combination with the B10 and B12 wheel set with a size of 9″x20″ and a maximum tire equipment of 255/30-20 a higher cornering speed will be reached and in addition a better handling. Also new 40 mm suspension plumes and different exhaust silencer are available. A new aerodynamic program with shapely exhaust-pipe end in “RS-Style” rounds up the exclusive external of the Audi A5 Cabriolet.

2010 Audi Q7 3.0 TDI Clean Diesel Pricing Announced

Audi Q7 3.0 TDI Clean Diesel

Audi Q7 3.0 TDI Clean Diesel

Audi is pioneering the introduction of the world’s cleanest diesel technology to the UK in Q7 SUV models that help to rid the air of Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions, regarded by many as being dramatically more harmful to humans than Carbon Dioxide (CO2). Capable of removing up to 90 per cent of NOx particles from exhaust gases, this ultra-low emission technology will be a highlight at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show (September 17 to 27), where it will be showcased in the compact executive A4 Saloon.

The Q7 3.0 TDI Clean Diesel (from £40,060 OTR) is the first passenger car to be available in the UK with this advanced system, which has been designed to maximise engine efficiency and to optimise the after-treatment of exhaust gas. With its help, the 3.0-litre TDI engine powering the Q7, and showcased in the A4 in Frankfurt, already complies with proposed EU6 emissions limits that are not due to come into force in Europe until 2014.

Audi Q7 breathes easier – The Audi Q7 SUV is already available in the UK with a TDI engine featuring the world’s cleanest diesel technology reducing emissions of harmful nitrogen oxide by up to 90 per cent. At the 2009 Frankfurt Show Audi will exhibit an A4 Saloon benefiting from the same advanced technology.

The Audi brand exceeded the milestone 100,000 sales mark in the UK in 2007 and 2008. Globally, the brand exceeded 1 million deliveries for the first time in its history in 2008. With its programmes for both road and race cars the brand continues to maintain its upward trajectory. On the road it has extended its reach into important new segments with new models such as the A3 Cabriolet, the Q5, the TT RS and the R8 5.2 FSI quattro, and in the near future will break further new ground with the A1 compact hatchback, the Q3 compact SUV and the A5 Sportback five-door coupe. On the race circuit Audi Sport has contested the Le Mans 24-hour marathon eleven times since 1999, achieving a podium finish on all of these occasions and outright victory a total of 8 times.

2010 ABT Audi TT-RS In Detail

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

Five cylinders, plenty of power with four wheel drive – that was the original “ur-Quattro”, a sports coupe which caused a furore around 30 years ago and is also one of the highlights of the 50-year tuning history of ABT. General manager Hans-Jürgen Abt remembers the racing car, which now enthrals car fans in the Kempten showroom and creates a link to the new TT-RS: “Our ur-Quattro is a big banger, a sports machine which played in the Champions league. Quattro technology and performance are in perfect harmony. The TT-RS brings this magical combination back on the road.” Then, as now, a fully-charged 5-cylinder engine provides optimum power. The cool, compact sports car has it, in the truest sense of the word: the ABT version of the ABT TT-RS provides 420 HP (309kW). Thanks to ABT POWER, i.e. a charge air cooler and optimisation of the engine electronics, 80 HP (59 kW) more is put to work. That is enough to catapult the Bavarian super sports car to an electronically regulated tempo of 282 km/h. The athlete from the Alps can thereby manage the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds.

An ABT TT-RS is therefore able to keep up with the quickest of the quick at all times or even pass them by. Precisely what the ur-Quattro from ABT was also able to do. There is, however, one difference between then and now: contrary to the classic from the 80s the TT-RS is not just available as a sports coupe, but also as a cool roadster.

2010 Audi A3 TDI Clean Diesel Pricing Announced

2010 Audi A3 TDI

2010 Audi A3 TDI

Audi today announced pricing for the 2010 A3 TDI, its second U.S. clean diesel offering launched this year. Expected to begin arriving at U.S. dealers in late November 2009, the 50-state certified A3 TDI delivers the highest highway fuel economy in the luxury car category – 42 mpg, according to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates.

Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (excluding $825 destination charge, taxes, title, options, and dealer charges):
A3 TDI clean diesel with S tronic front wheel drive $29,950

-Second U.S. clean diesel offering from Audi within a year
-EPA estimated highway 42 mpg offers unmatched efficiency in luxury car segment
-Luxurious features and amenities without compromise

Audi launched its first TDI clean diesel model, the Q7 TDI, earlier this year. The Audi Q7 TDI built awareness with American luxury car consumers that modern clean diesel technology is markedly improved in emissions, quietness, ride comfort and overall performance. Both the A3 TDI and Q7 TDI clean diesel vehicles share several common attributes that include 50-state clean diesel technology, 30% better fuel economy and a 20% reduction in greenhouse gas than gasoline engines of comparable size.

In fact, the EPA calculated that if only one-third of the vehicles on American roads ran on clean diesel, the U.S. would use 1.5 million fewer barrels of oil each day. Audi was the first German car manufacturer to combine turbocharging with diesel engine technology in 1989, and has continued to evolve its technology ever since. Audi Sport has helped prepare the way for TDI clean diesel in the United States by racing the R10 TDI sports car from 2006-2008 in the American Le Mans Series and sweeping the major endurance races at the 12 Hours of Sebring (Sebring, Fla.) and the 10-hour Petit Le Mans (Atlanta, Ga.). In addition, the R10 TDI won all three 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance races in which it competed from 2006-2008. The R15 TDI continued the TDI clean diesel performance tradition by winning the 12 Hours of Sebring endurance race in March 2009.

The Audi A3 TDI offers the same sophistication, styling, operating efficiency and ride comfort that has distinguished Audi throughout its model range. Standard amenities include lighted vanity mirrors for drivers and front passengers within the sun visors, leather seating surfaces, cargo nets behind front seats, split folding 40/60 rear seats, rear seat arm rest with dual cup holders. Distinctive options include Audi Navigation plus with RDS traffic, Bluetooth® hands-free phone preparation, Audi music interface (integration for iPod® and related technology), BOSE® premium sound, the Titanium package with dark grey wheels and black grille, leather/alcantara seating, wood trim, rain/light sensors, auto-dimming exterior and interior rear-view mirror with integrated compass, and LED daytime running lights.

The pulling power of torque is the signature performance feature in all diesel models, and the A3 TDI clean diesel is no different. Offering 140 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque, this model performs briskly and efficiently with unmatched performance with its EPA-estimated 30/42 city/highway fuel efficiency.

The competitive set for the A3 TDI clean diesel is unique. Only one competitor is currently playing in the field of fuel-efficient compact luxury vehicles, but does not offer the driving experience or the 5-door flexibility that includes 40/60 split rear-folding seats. The Lexus HS 250h offers similar combined fuel economy with hybrid technology, but not superlative highway mileage range. The A3 TDI offers more superlatives in value, including a standard S line exterior sport appearance for 2010, a tighter steering turning circle, a top speed of 130 mph, as well as a 12-year limited warranty against corrosion.

The Audi approach toward efficiency is not only catered toward TDI clean diesel vehicles. Audi is also the first car company in the United States to equip 100% of its gasoline engines with FSI direct injection technology beginning with model year 2010. Audi began racing with FSI direct injection technology in 2000 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and American Le Mans Series with the R8 FSI prototype racing sports car. Once this technology first became available for U.S. Audi customers in late 2004 with the introduction of the 2005 A6 3.2 FSI quattro, the list of Audi vehicles sold in the U.S. with FSI direct injection technology has continued to grow.

2010 Sportec Audi TT RS

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

Sportec didn’t miss the new Audi TT RS. They launched Stage One engine performance upgrade for the turbocharged five cylinder engine of the small sports car. Seems like horse powers are never enough? If you think so, you should definitely try this upgrade for your TT RS. Just an ECU remap, but the results are more than satisfying.

Originally, the Audi TT RS’s 2.5 litre TFSI engine produces 335bhp at 5400 rpm and 450Nm at 1600rpm.

Stage One Performance upgrade boost up the beast to 400bhp at 5800rpm and 543 Nm at 2650rpm. The result is 0-100 kmh in just 4.2 seconds and top speed more than 155mph.

Exceptional figures for only £1200.00. The performance package is available from the official importer APS of Brackley. Stage one comes with official cover of the manufacturer’s warranty.

Because of the strong customer demand, Audi TT RS is currently in development at Sportec’s base in Hori, Switzerland.

AVUS Performance Audi RS6 Official Revealed

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

With its 580bhp and an impressive 650Nm ( 479.35 lb/ft) of torque the actual Audi RS6 is the perfect symbiosis of an estate and a super car. For AVUS Performance, based in Berlin, that starting basis was not enough.

As the importer for Sportec products in Germany they equipped the RS6 with a new high performance exhaust system with a diameter of 70mm, racing catalysts and a new ECU software.

The maximum power increased up to 700bhp and an astonishing 800Nm (589.97 lb/ft ) of torque are now tearing all 4 wheels.

The results are 0-60 in 3.9s, 0-120 in 12.1s and the RS6 is electronically limited at 211.27mph to not overstress the tires of the V10 biturbo. To get the power to the ground at best Avus Performance mounted a set of 22? wheels in the classic Sportec Mono 10 design.

Besides the better grip these have great impact to the overall look.

The already good standard factory suspension with electronic settings was only slightly modified with lowering springs which help to lower the car by 40mm. The handling improves noticeable and the car gets much more agile. On the other hand it fits perfectly to the complete look of the car and makes sense in combination with all the other options. Last but not least a carbon front-lip and a rear diffusor are also offered and are the icing on the cake.

Sportec RS700: Noble Power Limousine

Not only the wishes of Porsche Drivers are fulfilled at Sportec from Höri – also Audi Driver can help themselves out of the program of the this noble high-tech forge.

Sportec offers from now on a complete refining program for Audi RS6.

The main point consists in the increased performance of the 5.0 litre V10 Biturbo aggregate. For that purpose the Swiss specialists exchange the original catalysts by high-performance catalysts with higher flow rate.

As an option the originally installed exhaust system can be substituted by a Sportec high-performance exhaust system with four ø76mm tail pipes and sportive sound. Hereafter the new components of the vehicle are tuned in the Sportec 4-wheel test rig. In combination with the new programming of the engine control unit the RS6 reaches a maximum output of more than 700 HP. The torque increases up to fulminate 800 NM. As a result the 4-wheel limousine sprints to tempo 100 in 4.0 seconds, 200 km/h are achieved after only 12.0 seconds and then reaches the electronically regulated maximum speed of more than 310 km/h.

In order to keep so much power safely on the ground, Sportec offers a lowering set which lowers the body by 30 millimetres perfectly harmonized with the electronic chassis. This breathtaking demonstration of engine force is transferred to the 265/30 tyres which are mounted on special light 22 inches Sportec Mono/10 rims. Beside this, the design of the Mono/10 lets the RS6 appear even more sporty – and gives to the overall optics of the limousine more easiness which is complemented by the Carbon front spoiler lip and the Carbon rear diffuser.

Sportec impresses with noble aluminium accessories for the interior. This is accented in form of aluminium pedal sets and aluminium footrests.
